Application Icon   Widgets

For those old enough to remember, OS X had a feature called the Dashboard where you could install widgets, the precursors to the widgets Apple introduced later on their mobile operating systems. With macOS Tahoe, Apple brought application-specific macOS widgets to the desktop and DEVONthink comes with a small contingent of them.

In the Finder, Control-click your desktop and choose Edit Widgets. Scroll to DEVONthink in the widget directory to view the available options including: the Reading List, Favorites, a tip from our blog, or view or load one of your Workspaces. Click the green plus button or drag and drop a widget to install and position it. For widgets you don't need to see all the time, you can add them to the Control Center and popup it open, as needed. Once installed, you can change a few of the options. Control-click the widget and change the size, from small to extra large. Choose Edit… to bring up the configuration options. For example, the Reading List widget lets you choose between viewing from all the entries or just the unread ones.

Not only do widgets let you see things, but also open them. Click on a favorited item to open it in DEVONthink. Or tap a workspace to quickly load that set of databases and windows.
